Houston...we have an unexpected liftoff.

Yesterday, right around 3:00PM, I started thinking about releasing the e-Book version of Eternal Hearts a few weeks early. I ran the idea by my Mom and she was totally on board…so I sat here really weighing my options, because I didn’t want my print readers to be upset that the e-Book released first. After some serious contemplation I started doing all the formatting for the different e-Book versions (which took about 6 hours), and then I began setting up EH on the different sites, but just as a draft, meaning the book wasn’t on sale, and wouldn’t be on sale until I clicked the “publish” button. Then I posted a message on my Facebook page asking if anyone would be overly upset if the e-Book came out before the print. And of course, the answer was no. :)

But then…oh, then…I went to Amazon and did a search for Eternal Hearts to see if the print listing was even up for pre-order there yet (because it’s been on B&N for a few weeks now)…and wouldn’t you know - the book was already IN STOCK and SHIPPING. And this was my face…

And let me tell you - I FREAKED OUT. I really did. I dug down deep and found my howler-monkey octave…and then I spit out every expletive I could think of for about 10 straight minutes. Even now, a little over 12 hours later, I’m still a little miffed.

For the first time in my life, I had meticulously planned every detail of something…and it was all for naught. It was one thing when *I* was thinking about releasing the e-Book early, because *I* would be the one creating the changes - but having the print book release without my knowledge was just too much. I planned for Eternal Hearts to release on June 1st, and maneuvered my whole schedule around that date. I bought advertising for June. I scheduled blog tours and interviews and PRINT book giveaways for June. I set up a Special Order for Eternal Hearts thinking (hoping) that those who ordered would get Eternal Hearts at least a few days before June 1st. And here I am…baffled as to what to do now.

I rushed to get all the e-Book versions uploaded last night…and as far as I know only B&N and All Romance have e-copies available now. The Kindle listing should go up sometime this afternoon. I’m still like #2,500 in the Smashwords queue, so I’m thinking it won’t show up there until tomorrow. And it will be at least another week before EH is available at the iBookstore, Sony Reader Store, and Kobo. So if you can’t find the e-book in the format you want yet, please bear with me - I wasn’t prepared for this…

To those who placed an Eternal Hearts Special Order, in light of the circumstances, if you’d like a refund I will promptly return your money to you. Just drop me an e-mail at orders@darknesswithinnovels.com and I will get your request taken care of ASAP. If there is anyone else who wants to place a Special Order for Eternal Hearts…I still have a few slots open. The ship dates of May 23 - May 25 will still hold, unless I get my book order early. I know that sounds bad, but I just approved the print proof on Wednesday the 27th - so *I* don’t even have print copies of EH yet! And the Special Edition Stefan prints won’t be here until May 5th or 6th. :( Like I said, I will ship the Special Orders as soon as I possibly can.

I think that’s all there is to say right now. I’m doing my best to shift with the tide here, but I feel like a chicken with my head cut off. I’m scrambling to set everything straight, but if I’ve forgotten something please don’t hesitate to let me know. I could use all the help I can get! I suppose the only bonus here, other than all of you getting the book you’ve been waiting for (which really does make me happy regardless of the surprise release!)…is at least it released a month early, instead of a month late! :)
